CULTURAL IMMERSION IN EXMOUTH - 2018
A group of our bilingual students from 4º E.S.O. and 1º Bachillerato is spending this week in Exmouth, UK, enrolled in a cultural immersion programme.
They are staying with local families which gives them a total insight into British daily life. Their routine starts first thing in the morning when they attend English lessons until midday. Then, they spend afternoons and early evenings joining in a wide range of activities that go from playing games to visiting historical landmarks in the area or meeting local of foreign students as a way to increase their exposure to the language and benefit from it. To end up the days, they get together with their host families at supper time.
We can all learn about this adventure reading their journals where they will record their experiences every day.

SUNDAY, APRIL 1, 2018
ZHOUMIAO CHEN
Hey! I´m Zhoumiao,I was very exited because is the first time that I travel alone with the school.
We start the travel since 05:00 until 17:30 so it was very very long.
I felt dizzy in the bus,so i ate medicine for sleep.I stay here with Silvia,our family was late because they were traveling and the plane arrive very late.So we stay with teacher´s family,the dogs were so funny.We arrived at 20:00 we didn´t had dinner because we didn´t feel very good.

IRENE CAMACHO & ÁNGELA MUÑOZ:1st day: Sunday 1st.
We landed into England at 12:25, and reached Exmouth at 17:30. Then, our families picked us up and drove us to our new home, we had dinner while talking to them, we relaxed and we went to sleep at 21:30.

Today, we woke up at 4 o’clock because we have to stayed in the ies becquer at 5 o’clock. Then, the bus picked us and we arrived malaga at 8 o’clock more or less.
We took the airplane at 10:20, at 12 o’clock maybe we arrived to london airport and we picked the suit cases and took another bus; at 5:15 more le less, we arrived with the families.
We are very happy with our family.

Hi, we are Patricia Blázquez and Paula Barbero.
Today has been our first day in Exmouth. We have had breakfast with our family and then we went to english lessons with our mates. After that we had lunch at 12:30!!!! Finally, the guides showed us a little about the city.
It has been an amazing enjoyable day with everybody. The families are so friendly and sociable. Very nice people.

Today we have arrived to the Gatwik airport at 11:53 here in England an then we have arrived to Exmouth at 17:30, we have met Lee and Paul Duncan and their sons Bradley and Kaiden, Lee has drived us to their house and we have went up to our room to order the clothes and then we have had dinner and we have took a shower, then we have played a boardgame and we have gone to sleep.

We arrived England at 5:53 in the airport of Gatwick (in the outskirts of London). After that we took a bus and Exmouth, we were 3 hours and a half in the bus! Then we have met our family and dinner and now we are going to go bed. It has been a perfect first day!

02/04/2018
Yesterday we took the plane in Málaga and we arrived to London and there we took a bus to Exmouth. We arrive around 5:30 p.m. and our mother picked up us to the house, which is amazing, by the way.
As the day had been exhausted we had a shower, we had dinner and we went to the bed.
Today we have woken up and we went to the school and after the lunch we went to have a walk through Exmouth and also to the beach, where, despite the weather, we have played football. Then we took the bus and we arrived home..

2nd day: Monday 2nd.
We have had our first lessons. They have been really amusing and teachers have been really nice to us. We've had three lessons of one hour and a fifteen minutes break between each of the classes. Then, we've had an hour to eat our meal and to explore the area. At 13:30 we've met the others at The Strand, which is Exmouth's square, and we've done a tour all around the place: we've visited the beach and enjoyed the walk. It has been really nice. At 16:30 we've got home and now (17:30), we are relaxing.
CECILIA DELGADO, ANA ROSA CABELLO Y AINARA GRANADOToday we went to school at 8:30. At 12:30 we had lunch and at 13:30 the teachers went on a tour around the town with us to learn about Exmouth. When we arrived to the beach we played football with our partners and some of the teachers. At the end, we came back home.

Today we have breakfast at 07:00, it was cereals. They took us to class at 08:30, and we started them at 09:00. Until 12:30 we have been in the classes and then they made a tour of the town. Later we have returned home.

02/04/18
Today has been so much fun. I woke up and had breakfast, and then Allan (the father in our host family) drove Andrea and I to the Strand. In the school, we were given a talk about the basic rules we must follow here in England an other stuff we need to know. After that we attended to classes for three hours and we had our pack lunches. Later on we went to the school for another talk and went for a walk to see the important places on Exmouth. At the end of the excursion we had more or less an hour of free time, which we used for going to the supermarket and playing football in the beach. After that, we were taught how to catch the bus and when I got home I had a shower and had spaguetti bolognesa for dinner, at about 19:00. After dinner we did our homework with our host family and went to sleep.

Today I woke up at seven o'clock and I had breakfast cereals with milk and Alan(father in our host family) took marta , me and two german students to school.
In the class I enjoyed with my friends and the 3 teacher are very simpathic.
Later, I ate my pack lunch (sándwich of ham and butter,apple,patatoes and chocolate)
after that, we enter to school and we watched a vídeo and we answered the questions.
We went to the beach and we played to football.
Marta and me got bus and we showed and Amanda(mother in our host family) cooked pasta bolognesa and was delicious!!

Monday 2 of April 2018
Today has been our first morning un Exmouth, we had breakfast coffe and cereals. Then we had classes of three hours with 2 breaks in the middle in an English Academy in the center of the village. After that we had lunch and then had been seeing all Exmouth and playing football in the beach. Later teachers give us buspass to take a bus with 2 floors!.
When we have arrived house we have dinner pasta and now we are in our room waiting to sleep.CURRO VARGAS
Today we have woke up at 7:28 in the morning and we started to get dressed for having breakfast later, at breakfast we ate son milk with cereals and a coffee. At 8:10 we left the home and Lee took us to the Strand were we met our partners, then we have been divided into 2 groups and we have had 3 hours and a half of classes with 2 breaks of 15 minutes.
At 12:30 we had lunch and we found that there is a place with arcade games in the village and we went there an played somo games.
At 13:30 we went to the Strand again and we started a tour through Exmouth and we went to the beach where we played football, then we returned to the Strandan they gave us our bus passes and a supervisor took us to our houses by bus to show us the way
At 18:30 we had dinner and we ate pasta bolognesa and then we played to the Xbox with one of the children and at 21:00 we went to our bedroom and at 22:30 we went to sleep

Today we woke up at 7 o’clock and we had breakfast and went to school earlier because the classes begin at 8:30.
At 12:30 we had lunch near to the school and we walked too much because we had a tour of exmouth but its good.
In the house, we had shower and dinner and we are now in the beds.

Hi,I’m Silvia. I’m going to talk about my first day in exmouth,England. On Sunday,I was sick and dizzy because we have too much of hours of travel. We arrived to family house at 8:15 o’clock. On Monday, I got up at 7:00,me and my friend Zhoumiao haved breakfast with the family,the family have 1 girl called holly and a boy called Toby,she has 6 and he 4 years old. We went with the father of the family to the square where we would meet the other classmates to go to the academy. The lessons were good. Later, we went to a tour with our teachers. Exmouth is so beautiful,the houses close to the exe river are so expensive!!. I love the buildings and the houses,in exmouth the have a little Big Ben ahah . We went to the beach,it was very cold!!. Finally,me and my friend went back to our house. We ate pasta with the family and now we’re in the bed trying to sleep, it’s so early to go to bed !!

We had a very nice breakfast (some toasts with butter) and then our family picked us up to the academy. There, in the classes we knew the teachers who were really friendly. We had 15 minutes between classes to explore the square next to the academy, which is called the Strand. At 12:30 p.m. we had lunch and we had 1h of free time. Then we looked at the different shops in the streets close to the Strand.
At 13:30, one of the managers showed to us Exmouth and its streets. We went to the beach and some of us had fun playing football. We had another hour of free time to explore and have a good time. Later we went with our family. We had dinner and they took us to a beach next to a cliff. Near there we drunk hot chocolate in a restaurant and after that we came back home. Hi!
Yesterday , we wake up at 5:00 and when we was in high school , we are going to Málaga Airport in bus to travel to London in airplain.
When we arrive there, we travel to Exmouth again in bus during 4h. In england we know our families , claudia , Rocío and me have a shower and dinner pizza.Today , 2nd a April.
We wake up at 7:30 and the wife calls Jan takes to School where staying 3h , the teachers are very simpathic.
After that, we eat our packed lunch and later doing a tour in Exmouth with guides and visit places very beatiful!
At 16:15, we are going to our houses to have a shower and dinner Lasagna.Have a great day!

Hi Becquer!
Yesterday we arrived to London by plane where I was sitting next to the super teachers and after that we went to Exmouth by bus.
When we arrived we were very nervous and the mother of the family, Lee picked us up and she drove us to the house.
When we get inside it, we put the shoes off and we entered. We met the father, Paul and the smallest son, Leiden.
We went upstairs and we took all the clothes out of the bag.
We had dinner and after that we went bed after playing some games of Parchis STAR with friends.
Today we got up and we had breakfast. After that Lee drove us to the school and we met our teachers.
After that we made a tour around Exmouth and we went to the beach and we played football (I would like to bath in the sea but I forgot the swimming clothes al home).
Later we arrived home by bus and there we had dinner while chatting with the family.
When dinner was over we stayed with the family in the living room and also we played some Fortnite.
That is all.

03/04/2018
Today we have picked the bus in order to go to the high school very early in the morning. After the classes we have eaten at 12:30 p.m. and we have gone to Exeter, where we have visited the cathedral, a museum which was a little bit odd, because it had dissected animals, and a lot of shops where we have bought a lot of things. The food is still a little bit weird and we have not got used to it yet, whereas the supermarket's sweets are quite astonishing by the way.
After Exeter we have had a walk through Exmouth again with other partners and finally, we have picked the bus for arriving home at 6 p.m. for having dinner.
We are a little bit exhausted but it has been amazing.

Today we went to school. In the afternoon we took the train and we went to Exeter.
In Exeter we visited the town, the cathedral and, afterwards, we had time to buy in some shops.

We've had our regular lessons from 9 to 12:30 and then we've had luch until 13:00. From 13:30 to 5:30 (more or less) we've gone visiting Exeter, that is the capital of Devon. We've gone to a museum and to the cathedral and then we've gone back home by train. We've spent time at the arcade with some friends. We've got home at 6:30 and we've have fish and chips for dinner at 7:00 (it was delicious).

Today we were from 8:30 to 12:30 at the language,teacher are sympathetic.Later we ate the pack lunch.We bought some gift for our friends.
In the afternoon we had a tour around Exmouth and the landscape are very beatiful (it´s too cold) It is fantastic!

Today has been so much fun. We took the bus alone for the first time and didn’t get lost, so that is good. We also attended to the classes for 3 hours and ate our packed lunch in The Strand. After that we took the train to go to Exeter. When we got there we went to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, which was really interesting and showed a lot of different insects and marine creatures. After that we walked around Exeter and saw it’s cathedral, which was really beautiful and impressive, and we learnt some things about its history and some interesting facts such as that JK Rowling (who wrote Harry Potter books) took inspirantion from Exeter’s Cathedral for Hogwarts school. Then we had 50 minutes for shopping. After that we took the train back to Exmouth and had some free time. Then we took the bus and got home, where we had a delicious dinner and went to sleep.

Hello everyone!!
It has been our second they here and it has been completely amazing. We have had class this morning as always but then we visited Exeter, the nearest city here. We would have prefered to spend more time shopping instead of going through the museum. Despite this we have enjoyed our journey.
Also, we have had some typical english dinner as yesterday. Both of them absolutely delicious.
We have to go because it is a little bit late here. We hope you are all well.

Today we have visited Exeter! (the city near yo Exmouth).
After classes se took the train to Exeter, after we arrived, we visited the museum Ramm, after that we went shopping and looking araund the city.

Today we woke up at 7 o’clock too but clases began at 9 o’clock.
We had breakfast and we went to Exeter and went to a musseum and visited the cathedral, and our favorite part was when we went shopping but the problem was that we were few time shopping, we only had an hour, at 5:30 we came back to Exmouth and our family invited us to bowling and to fish and chips because today is Maria’s birthday.

Today we went to Exeter after the classes and we stayed there until 17:30, we went to a museum and we bought some things, I took a white chocolate moccha at Starbucks and I bought the Empire magazine, a very famous cinema magazine that doesn't exist in Spain, then we met Angela and Irene and we went to the Arcade before we went to our house.

Today we got up at 7:00, I was so nervous because it was my birthday, now I'm fifteen. In breakfast the family decorate de house for me and they bought me a present, they are very nice.

Then one of the teachers, bought me a cupcake and put a candle on there and they sang me HAPPY BIRTHDAY, It was embarrassing but so cute. We have gone to Exeter. There we saw a museum and the cathedral, it was very beautiful. After that we went shopping, but I didn't buy anything, because I didn't find something cool so I 'my waiting for other shops. In the evening the family brought as to the bowling center and then we got fish an chips, these is delicious, I like a lot.

We had cereals for breakfast and then Brett picked us up to school. Today's classes have been very interesting; we played a game in which some of us are suspects of a murder and the detectives should discover if they are guilty or innocent. After classes we had 30 minutes for our lunch and we knew some new and very nice people from another Spanish high school. Later we went by train to Exeter and we visited a museum. This visit was very different and interesting, but we especially liked walking around the city. In this route through Exeter's streets we discovered a street in which J.K. Rowking got inspired for creating Diagon Alley in her novel "Harry Potter".
After this we had roughly 1h to go shopping. Later we came back to Exmouth and some of us asked our families by phone to stay a little bit more to keep on exploring Exmouth and to have fun all together.
At 6:30 we went home and we had a very tasty pizza for dinner. At the end of the day, we felt very tired and we went to bed happily because of the great day we'd just had.JORGE MUNDI

It’s tuesday,We went to visit exeter,it’s was amazing and beautiful, I went shopping with my friends, we were at the Starbucks (we love Starbucks) and many shops like primark. Before,We’re at a museum of Exeter,that was amazing. There are many insects and animals from the past. There were also many old things like the clothing of the middle ages to dishes with more than 2500 years!! (That’s so crazy ahah). Later we took the train to went back exmouth. Now I’m in the bed watching a video with my friend Zhoumiao, we love Exeter,it’s was so beautiful

ZHOUMIAO CHEN
Today we had toast for breakfast and then we took the bus for school,we almost lost looking for the bus stop,but finally we arrived before 9:00 am. The lessons were funny,we played a game(detective & suspicious)we was in the square and we did a questionnaire about appearance.
After school we took the train and we visited a near town,Exeter. We visited a museum which is very interesting.And then we saw the cathedral,it´s very beatiful.

Today we've had our regular lessons until 12:30. Even though it was raining a lot we've had our lunch outside and then waited in school until 13:30. Then, we went to Topsham to eat "cream tea" —tea accompanied by biscuits filled up of jam and butter— and we have done a little tour there. We have arrived home at 17:30 and we've had bacon and eggs for dinner. Today has been an awesome day.

It’s wednesday, We went to a beautiful village,I love it so much. There were many places to visit. We try the cream tea, I can’t because I’m allergic to lactose, the teacher who who was guiding us said “the lactose it’s for losers” I laughed so much ahah. Later we saw the river, it’s was so beautiful but the weather was so cold, I was like a snow men ahah. Later we toke the train to go back to exmouth. Now I finish my dinner, I love it,it’s was delicious.

Today We arrived to school.
At half past twelve I ate sandwich,apple and potatoes and I bought chocolate.
We took the train and we stopped in a village called Topsham.
Later we entered a coffee and We drunk tea and ate cream tea and it was delicious.We visited the village

This morning we have taken the bus again, as we life quite far from the school. In our classes we are learning a lot, specially, we are doing a great amount of oral activities, which we find very useful and after the classes, that finished at 12:30 p.m., as always, we have gone to Topsham, where we have visited the village nd the port, despite it was very windy, and we also have eaten the typical british tea with a kind of cake with cream and jam. It was delicious and we had a pretty great time.
After the trip we have come back to the house where, surprisingly, there were two relatives of our host parents. The have been very kind and we have talked a lot with them. Furthermore, we have translated them a paper that they had in Spanish with a lot of different types of chocolates. It's been very funny..

Today is our family Dad's birthday.At the school we learnt food vocabulary and we did a theatre ,it was very funny.
After that we(Silvia,Cecilia,Ana Rosa and me )went to KFC because we want to eat chicken.We were eating and speaking normal,but next us there was 3 rude boy and they started throwing to us chips.At the beggining we don't care,but they still throwing to us chips to our face and insulting us.We were very angry and Ana Rosa shouted:What´s your mental problem? and i trough bag with trash and I said:What´s wrong with you?We just want to eat normal ! We said sorry to the other person who was there eating.After we found they in the Strand,they saw us and shouted:Holy shit! and ran.
At the afternoon we visited a village and we tasted cream tea,it was delicious.

Hello!
This morning we have tried peanut butter for the first time. It has been a very special moment in our lives.
Then we went to our daily lessons . After lunch we visited Topsham and had a typical cream tea from Devon.
Finally, we have gone shopping in Exmouth before getting home, as we wanted!!
Dinner was so good, delicious. Almost everything is lovely, we don't want to return to Spain hahaha.

Today we have eaten the tipical english Cream Tea!
It consist in Tea with or without milk and a bread roll with cream and jam.
Later we arrived home and we had dinner and saw a match between Liverpool and Manchester City and Liverpool won!

At the beginning of the day we had scrambled eggs with toasts for breakfast and then then Brett took us to the academy. In today's classes we have learned a lot of new vocabulary; once we finished them we had lunch and we had 1h of free time. However it was raining by that moment so we stayed inside the academy. Later we went by train to Topshame, where we tried a Devonshire cream tea which was very fancy. There we also followed a touristic route organised by Mountland's managers.
Around 16:00 we came back to Exmouth and we asked our families for staying a little longer. At the end we had 1h and a half for passing time with friends until going home.
As dinner we had beans with a fried egg and toasts. It was great!!! No words to describe how much we loved that dinner. After that, we talked with our families and we prepared our backpacks for tomorrow. It has been a very interesting day!!!

Today we got up at 7 o'clock and we had breakfast with Marcus an Emily. Then we went walking at school. Our lesson today are quite good, they are funny. Today Emily prepares Sara and I some ham and cheese sandwiches. We met a new friend from Valencia. At 13:30 we went to a town to tried cream tea. I didn't like as much as well, but it was cute to tried some new things.
We came back home, after went some shopping, and we dinner with Emily and Phebe. Phebe wanted to do some biscuits so we help her to made it, we lough a lot. Then we took a shower and saw in TV first dates with the family.MARÍA A. O.
Today we have started English lessons from 9:00 to 12:30 that we always have 2 breaks of 15 minutes. At 13h45 we were headed for Topsham ( Devon )by train because in Topsham we had a typical british cream tea and it was delicious! . At this small village we have taken so many photos because it was a very special village . After that, we came back to Exmouth. Finally we are coming back to home .

Yesterday we went to the school from 9:00 to 12 :00 as all the days. After we took a questionnarie and we went to square , to ask ten people about british food . Tonight we went to disco .Finally we backed to home at 9:30 o'oclok.
Today we had a quick breakfast because we were a little late to the bus. We have given normal classes until 12:30. Later we went to the bowling and then to a cliff with a very nice view of the beach.

05/04/2018
This morning we have gone to classes, as always and after the lunch we have done several games. The first one was related with food: we had to taste some english food and try to guess exactly what were them. It was quite fun. The second one was related with music, we had to find out the singers of several songs. And eventually, we went to the beach and play a ball game which was astonishing. After the games we returned home and had dinner at 6 ish and then we dressed up for going to a little party at 7. We have had a lot of fun today and we are quite exhausted. It has been amazing.

Today has been great. Everything begun with the breakfast and our course in the academy like the rest of the days. In the classes we did a role play of super stars and reporters and we were constantly talking each other, so we would be practising our English. After lunch we had 1h of free time to go shopping or to stay at the Strand with our friends. At 1:30, we started doing some quizzes all together of music, which was very funny, and of food. We had to interview English people in the Strand about british food and later we tried some typical foods of Exmouth. That was quite interesting!
Following that, we had dinner with our families and the meal was very tasty. We ate fish and mashed peas.
After that, we finally went... to the disco!!
We had a lot of fun in there. We knew new people and we didn't stop dancing.

Hello!!
Today is thursday, tomorrow is our last day and we are starting to feel sad.
We have spent the morning in class as always and then we have had lunch. Just a normal day but... Not the same at evening!!
We have had a cultural english activity and then... A PARTY!!!
Just from 7 to 9:30 but it has been a nice one with people from different parts of Spain.
We have to leave it here because it is late for us and we should be sleeping.

Today we have proved a little bit of English food like marmite that was really bad tasting and then we heard some English pop music and we saw two videos of x factor

Today we stayed in Exmouth. First we answered some question about the British food to the people of the Strand.
Later we played to guess some songs.
At 7:00 in the evening we went to the rugby club to had a party. We danced and singed a lot. -

Today is our last day in Exmouth as we said yesterday...
We are very sad because it has been an amazing experience coming here and learning english with such as friendly people.
In class, our teachers have given to us an english title which recognizes we have been here. After that we have had lunch and our last shopping before going to the bowling activity.
FRANK HAS VISITED US!!! Do you remember him from the group of people that went to our high school at the beginning of the term?? We have had a good time with him hahaha.

Today it has been our last day on Exmouth and we have gone bowling and we have went to see a strange piramid
We have really enjoyed being here and it is a pity that we have to go.

Today is the saddest day surely of this week. We are coming back home although we would like to stay a little longer. However, all stories have a begging and an end, and this is today's start: First we had cereals for breakfast and then we went to the academy. One of the activities we did was quite interesting; we had to invent some news and present them to the rest of the students. In the last lesson, we said goodbye to our teachers and we left our classes for the last time. Next, we had a tasty lunch and we went bowling. We had a lot of fun! Then our instructor took us to the Jurassic coast where many fossils can be found and we enjoyed the landscape.
Later we came back to the Strand and we went shopping. After that, our family picked us up to home and we had dinner. We passed time with our great host family and we said goodbye to each other.
It has been a beautiful experience, very interesting and enjoyable that we would surely repeat. We feel very lucky and happy with the teachers we had and especially with our host family. It has been definitely a fantastic experience we will never forget.CARMEN GILES and ANDREA

Today, as always, we've woken up and gone to classes. After the classes, which have been funnier than normally they are, we've gone to the bowling. There, an english friend of us who's called Frank has come in order to visit us. He's one of the british people that came on January this year to our school. After the bowling we went to the Jurassic Coast, where we took a lot of wonderful photos. We also went shopping and eventually we came back home and had our last english dinner. Our host family is pretty cute, the little baby over all.
We had a great day with them and with the teachers and all our friends and mates. We've found this trip amazing and we'd like to repeat it in the future. Exmouth and Mountland are delightful.

We went to the bowling our team was Silvia, Clara, Maria and us, and we went to the jurasic coast. At 17 we was in the Strand and the teachers gave us time to did the last shoppings.
